Lost in technology

Why cant we let go of the past,
Minuscule moments no longer stored in hearts,
But on phones and clouds and usb sticks,
So when you lose one, there’s an imaginary rip,
In your mind, frustrated because you tried to hold on.
To little things like quotes and memories-
that you cant picture now that pictures gone.
And I guess you didn’t store it in your heart
‘cause there’s more space on your device than in a heart,
So why try to remember his look by gazing at it,
‘a picture lasts longer’ so why rely on eyes?
I used to have moments captured in my mind,
Till they told me that a device is better.
We text now, so what’s the use in handwritten letters?
Well I still have those, love stained letters from overseas,
One of the few things not stolen by fixed screens and apple thieves,
Can you believe, I lost a thousand memories,
Things I don’t need to remember, but I wasn’t ready to leave
them behind. Why cant we let go of the past?
Minuscule moments no longer stored in hearts,
but on phones and clouds and usb sticks,
how many things can the world steal from us like this?
